I have used both wax and polycrylic
on chalk painted finishes.
As well as polycrylic vs wax
on the chalk painted finishes.
Not only does chalk paint give a project vintage look right off the bat, antiquing and distressing techniques come out much better
on a chalk paint finish hands down.

This will make enough
chalk -
finish paint for one coat
on a six - drawer dresser.
Using a wax
on top of
chalk paint, transforms the
paint into a matte
finish.
Chalk paint is pricey and a bit
on the thick side for me and I'm not wild about the
finish or the fact that you have to wax

finish just as you would
on any
painted surface.
I did use the
chalk paint on a very intricate nest of tables and was cursing mid-way through it as it was so hard to wax, but I am happy I went through with it as the tables when
finished looked amazing!
Since this piece is newly
finished I can't say how it'll hold up long - term, but Annie Sloan
Chalk Paint works great when
painting over fabric (with a little water sprayed
on - no water
on the leather though).

on a mirror and I'm not sure what needs to be done now.

I'm going to use them for my coffee table... I have about three fourths of my General
Finishes chalk paint quart left so there's plenty of projects
on the back burner!
Also, if I'm
painting over existing cupboard spaces & doors that have some
finish on them... I thought Craft style
chalk paint & wax sealant... What do think?
I was wanting to spray this table for a really even
finish (I LOVE the even
finish a sprayer gives - especially
on large surfaces like this and I really, really love how quickly I can knock projects out using one) but had never tried a
paint sprayer with
chalk style
paint.
This is one big mirror (4 x 5) and I didn't feel like scrubbing
on a wax then going back later to buff it out — the Topcoat
Finish was a quick brush
on coat, one layer was enough to seal the
paint, leaving it matte, but still popping the true colors of the
chalk / clay
paints -

chalk paint on the rest of the table, could you ideally just strip the top where you used the driftwood treatment and rough up the
finish where the
chalk paint was used prior to

think you are talking about a blackboard / chalkboard surface as opposed to a Chalkpaint ie flat milk like
paint not meant for writing
on with
chalk but as a flat
