I did use the chalk paint on a very intricate nest of tables and was cursing mid-way through it as it was so hard to wax, but I am happy I went through with it as the tables when finished looked amazing!
Since this piece is newly finished I can't say how it'll hold up long - term, but Annie Sloan Chalk Paint works great when painting over fabric (with a little water sprayed on - no water on the leather though).

I was wanting to spray this table for a really even finish (I LOVE the even finish a sprayer gives - especially on large surfaces like this and I really, really love how quickly I can knock projects out using one) but had never tried a paint sprayer with chalk style paint.
This is one big mirror (4 x 5) and I didn't feel like scrubbing on a wax then going back later to buff it out — the Topcoat Finish was a quick brush on coat, one layer was enough to seal the paint, leaving it matte, but still popping the true colors of the chalk / clay paints -

think you are talking about a blackboard / chalkboard surface as opposed to a Chalkpaint ie flat milk like paint not meant for writing on with chalk but as a flat finish on furniture.
