The first week focused
on cold food preparation, the second week on baking, and the third week on prep cooking.
I have given up
on cold food lately because it's way too cold outside.
But we have been burning the candle at both ends for the last few weeks and living
on cold foods such as smoothies, soups and salads and that seems to be the way of life at our house.
In honor of a certain movie that my older kids are obsessed with and that comes out soon (hint: this one), I used these themed molds, but any silicone molds will work (here's why I feel comfortable using silicone
on cold foods).

While we don't mind eating leftover supper for breakfast and leftover lunch for supper we eat a variety of
foods depending
on the season (the vegetables in our veg box change every week so we get the variety without too much planning
on our part) and how we're feeling — so if we're
cold and tired then we prefer cooked
food and when it's hot we enjoy plenty of raw
foods.

Not only is this soup perfect
on a
cold day, but it also features a variety of
foods and is very hearty and filling.

Very satisfying and would make great healthy comfort
food on a
cold day.
Step 2: In a
food processor put
cold butter cut into chunks, then flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda and turn
on until the butter is in small beads.
Serve it with a small salad and some crusty bread and you have comfort
food and the perfect Sunday dinner
on a
cold night.
It's one of those soups that screams comfort
food on a
cold fall or winter day.
Our dinner grew
cold, blah blah,
food blogger problems, but you'll be happy to know this meal heats up nicely in the microwave and tastes great
on day two!
The meal options I came up with had to be: # 1 things that would be fairly easy to prepare (I wasn't about to take an extra hour
on Sunday to make something elaborate), # 2 had to be
foods I could easily manipulate the nutritional profile for (ensuring a balance of protein, carbs, and fat), # 3 the
food had to store well in the fridge or freezer, # 4 they had to reheat well in either the toaster or microwave OR be eaten
cold right from the fridge, and # 5 ideally, they needed to be things she could easily eat in the car
on the way to school (remember, it takes us at least 20 minutes with no traffic to get to school so eating in the car gives us even MORE time to sleep lol).
We've had the occasional
cold snap — and soup has been
on the menu pretty consistently since October — but I can't say I'm quite ready for the heavy, squashy, saucy comfort
food dishes that fill our winter meals.
Plus, it was creamy, cheesy and warm and made perfect comfort
food on a
cold day.

During the
colder months, our family tends to fall into a weekly routine of having certain
foods on certain days.
A garden full of sunshine, friends,
cold cider and the anticipation of the
food sizzling
on the grill.
Anyway, it's an unfortunate coincidence that leads us to eat
cold food in January, and that's why my wintertime salads must have roasted vegetables
on them.
Not only did it feel good to have a hot bowl of soup
on such a
cold day, but it was great eating something healthy, especially after all the rich holiday
foods and sweets I had been indulging in.
Which means I'll be moving
on to
food that's lighter, brighter and packed full of raw veggies... but not before I share one final
cold - weather meal.

Cold Chain Projects and a SAMPADA scheme focusing
on seamless agri cluster development in the current year that shall take
food processing industries to the next level.
Several years ago I worked across the street from a tasty Mexican fast
food restaurant, and I would walk over nearly every day
on my lunch break and get a giant cup of
cold horchata and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup with a stack of freshly made tortillas.
Even today, I still think of cinnamon toast as something special, a perfect comfort
food that I make
on cold or rainy days, or when I am feeling a little under the weather.
