Southern Exposure's nationally recognized Artists in Education (AIE) program brings together diverse youth, artists, schools and organizations to provide meaningful participation in the visual arts, sparking a
dialog on contemporary artistic practice and sociopolitical issues.
The project proposes a new performative term for
debates on contemporary artistic practice and knowledge production: the missed encounter does not signal a lack of encounters, nor an encounter that should have taken place and / but / or did not for an (un) expected reason.
