documentary really does not provide any new information and simply relies
on talking heads and archival
material.
The raw
material of this story is so powerful that even a mediocre dramatization would command our interest, but director James Marsh (who won an Oscar for his unconventional
documentary Man
on Wire), screenwriter McCarten, and the actors go above and beyond the norm.
Spanning four countries and as many languages, you'd imagine there would be a wealth of
material available for discussion, but the only extra
on the two - disc set is a 87 - minute
documentary («Common Ground: Under Construction»)
on the making of the film.
