However, such a course simply does not allow for the customized, one -
on - one attention that would be necessary to help a
dog with more severe issues, like aggression, extreme hyperactivity, leash
reactivity, and others.
This may be sibling aggression (in which the
dog is constantly at odds with another
dog in the household), fear aggression (loud noises, strangers, sudden movements, etc.), resource guarding (in which
dogs become overprotective of food, toys, and other possessions), leash

on the leash), or the simple will to dominate (in which a

dog reactivity and socialization.
Sarah worked hard to achieve this, beginning by hiring me to work
on reactivity on leash due to other off leash
dogs rushing up to him in their neighborhood.
I just started writing a response about similar experiences I have had, but my tips were just about ways I've controlled the
reactivity (working
on calm obedience in the doorway, using extremely valuable treats for working
on «watch me» etc.) I haven't thought about how to get the
dog to think differently about the hallway being an extension of the apartment.
Reactivity training also covers proper lead walking in that a
dog is able to walk
on lead without reacting and lunging
on lead as well as working
on social skills.
The thing I noticed about this is that after a few weeks, most
dogs started to deteriorate in behavior (more
reactivity, jumping, spinning in kennel, chewing
on kennel bars, etc.) and would effect the other
dogs around them and cause them to deteriorate faster.
Just make sure that they are comfortable dealing with behavior problems like aggression, anxiety, and
reactivity — some trainers are extremely knowledgeable about these issues and very skilled at treating them, while others focus more
on basic manners training,
dog sports like agility or obedience, or other specialized niches.
We have two options where you can choose to either work
on basic manners mostly for young
dogs or
reactivity / aggression behaviour issues.
When trying to combat leash
reactivity, the first step is redirecting your
dog's focus back
on you, rather than the distraction or trigger.
Leash
reactivity — lunging or barking at other
dogs while
on the leash — may be due either to fear and dislike of other
dogs or to intense desire to greet them frustrated by the restraint of the leash.
