Yogic postures like balancing
on one leg, warrior poses, holding
downward dogs and doing handstands can build tremendous strength in the limbs as a yoga kids learn to use their own body weight to balance.
And my partner moved my body into a better
downward dog than I have ever done
on my own.

I'd still use a rubber mat for regular yoga (if your hands are dry, poses like

If you aren't able to put that sort of pressure
on your arms and back, don't push it; go back to Bridge, practice lots of
Downward Dogs and other shoulder stretches, and try again in a few weeks.
