Since 2015, the National Education Policy Center Schools of Opportunity project has identified and celebrated public high schools that have resisted the test - focused craze of the No Child Left Behind era and — rather than buckling under the pressure to focus solely
on student outcomes — have made it a priority also to create strong and
equitable opportunities
for all
students to learn.
Her research focuses
on how targeted social - psychological interventions based in motivation theory can be implemented to promote
equitable outcomes in higher education, especially
for first - generation college
students and
students of color.
The authors argue that examining these artifacts can help schools gain a fresh perspective
on their policies, practices, and culture; better align human resources with
student outcome goals; identify conditions that support or constrain teaching quality; and generally foster more
equitable infrastructures
for teaching and learning.
