The number of students who qualify
for a
free or discounted
meal based
on income levels also matters because

school systems may qualify

As I outlined in a piece
for Civil Eats, the House CNR bill would have seriously undermined key
school food provisions, including taking a decidedly anti-science approach to

free meals to students in low - income areas without paperwork or stigma) and opening the junk food floodgates
on school campuses by gutting the Smart Snacks rules
for competitive food.

on the form, but their child MUST return the form to their teacher.

This area gets even trickier because not every student
on «paid» status actually does pay — some
school districts allow student with no
