A strong case has been made by F. J. E. Woodbridge that Plato not only does not seriously regard his «perfect state» as realizable, but that he means to make us see the error of imposing perfection too rigorously
on human fallibility.3 Edward Bellamy's Looking Backward illustrates the utopia which becomes a persuasive call to radical social reforms.4 It also illustrates one of the functions of utopian thought as a medium of realistic criticism of the present.
As Don Browning, director of the Religion, Culture and Family Project at the University of Chicago Divinity School, has argued, churches that have articulated a normative theology of the family, tempered by a strong emphasis
on human fallibility, are often better equipped to speak frankly about departures from their ideals and to offer services to members who have fallen short of those ideals.

When all allowance has been made for these limiting factors — the chances of oral transmission, the effect of translation, the interest of teachers in making the sayings «contemporary,» and simple
human fallibility — it remains that the first three gospels offer a body of sayings

This feeling of confidence is central to decision making, and, despite ample evidence of
human fallibility, the subjective feeling relies
on objective calculations.
While legal publishers use their best efforts to deliver current content, economic reality and
human fallibility impose practical constraints
on what is delivered.
We do need some humility and to acknowledge that
on becoming a lawyer, we do not transcend
human fallibility and foibles, and that we do not always deserve the deference and respect we sometimes receive for our station.
Another area of criticism focuses
on the

on the side of protecting the almost sacrosanct attorney - client privilege, holding that, «[o] n balance, and perhaps with some indulgence for
human fallibility,» defendant satisfied his burden of showing that he took reasonable steps to preserve the confidentiality of the communication.
