When someone left a comment
on my
water kefir post asking if it was possible to use the same grains to
make milk
kefir, I figured I'd give it a try.
This is yet another reason to avoid drinking regular soda ala Cheese Slave: I'm waiting
on some
water Kefir Grains to
make «soda».
When you go
on vacation or otherwise need a break from
kefir -
making, simply place your
water kefir grains in the refrigerator in their regular sugar
water mixture.
And just a heads up, this Yemoos site is a great resource for more detailed information

make water kefir.
Water Kefir is actually quite simple to
make and contains ingredients that you likely already have
on hand.
I will
make a video soon of
making kefir — but it couldn't be easier, just add
water kefir grains to coconut liquid and let it ferment in a jar
on the counter.
The normal advice to «
make sure to keep counters and floors clean and put food away so insects aren't attracted to your house,» doesn't works so well when you are fermenting jars of sweetened tea (kombucha) and sugar
water (
water kefir)
on the kitchen counters.
I milk my own Jersey, eat my own eggs and meat beef, chicken goat; grow many of my own veggies year round, eat lots of cream and butter, the fat
on my meat, bone broth; within the last year have given up vegetable oils except olive; gluten free for 2 years; very little organic cane sugar say less than 2 - 3 T. daily, many days none; wine and cheese of my own
making, mostly my own and daily; milk and / or
water kefir daily; work at home is my exercise along with stretching; 90 % organix in everything.
Let the grains drip out most of the
water and then reuse it to
make new
kefir by pouring new milk
on it.

@Sansan — My suggestion is to
make milk
kefir first with your grains, then after you've
made your grains multiply, take a few and try using them
on the
water kefir recipe.

You may scale the ratio depending
on what size batch of
water kefir you want to
make.

make a smoothie with raw milk
kefir blended with my oat / wheat porridge that I
make (sprouted dehyrdated mix that I mill at home, then soak in
water with some
kefir for 2 days before cooking
on low heat).
