They bought the most reasonble priced appliances, no upper cabinets (my next kitchen will be like that), and Ikea for lights, lower cabinets, Ikea door handles for cabinet handles (cheaper than true cabinet handles) and watching Overstock.com for lighting and deals on anything.

I hung racks on the back of a basement door for pantry items, put shelving in my basement for bulky items, put a metal rack for mixers and small appliances in a back hall, hung attractive items on the wall, utilized the inside of cabinet doors, and didn't have excess of anything.

I've tried a few tricks to make it feel bigger though: light and airy cabinets on some of the walls and leaving others empty, simple sleek cabinets without lots of handle / drawer details, built - in appliances to reduce visual clutter (such a pretenious design blog phrase sorry but I can't think of a different one).

When we moved in we knew that we'd want to do some work on our kitchen eventually, but it's not quite in the budget for us to do a whole overhaul right now (counters, backsplash, cabinets, appliances, etc).

A light - blue shade on the cabinets and island complements the sea - inspired backsplash and softens stainless steel appliances and dark countertops and floors of this seaside kitchen, The designer started wih the tiles, and the color inspired the palette for the entire house.

Even though everything was brand new when we moved in - drywall, tile, appliances, countertops, cabinets, there's a reason this house sat on the market for nearly a year.

I am very thrifty, and actually found 2 sets of cabinets on Market Place, along with all of my appliances.

Appliances are tucked away in cabinets and the drawer interiors are made of solid walnut, «a luxe surprise, like the peekaboo red sole on a Louboutin shoe.»

I plan on incorporating lower cabinets for storage of dishes, glasses, and small appliances.
