I've been told calories don't matter on keto, and have gorged
on nuts and seeds to the tune of thousands of calories per day.
I always forget to fill up
on nuts and seeds, so that's an area I need to improve.
If you've incorporated more leafy greens; like kale and green smoothies into your daily routine, or have begun snacking
on nuts and seeds, or have been eating more fresh fruits — that's great!
Dr. Greger might recommend more nuts and seeds than Dr. McDougall, but neither of them would recommend a diet based primarily
on nuts and seeds.
Since I have focused on those products coming from pastured, organic, local sources, I think it has improved my overall health from when I relied mostly
on nuts and seeds for dietary fat.
In the meantime I am going to experiment with some freezable raw recipes (granola, breakfast cookies, crackers), stock up
on nuts and seeds, and hopefully, be ready to go raw in a few weeks.
This first post will focus
on nuts and seeds and will feature items that I always have on hand in my kitchen.

To Susan K: It sounds like you were using sunflower
seeds with the shell left
on, they are less popular than the shelled ones but cheaper
and sometimes salted, it's time consuming to shell them so they tend to be eaten as a leisurely snack, a bit like pistachio
nuts.

If you've got a
nut allergy
on your hands, or want to make this school / daycare - friendly, use pumpkin
and sunflower
seeds instead of the
nuts.
