on planetary motion and climate — this stuff isn't big news; the effects are extremely small and change very slowly, compared to the rate of CO2 increase from fossil fuel use.

Did you know that
on March 8, 1618, 400 years ago today to the day, Johannes Kepler discovered his third law of
Planetary Motion?
After some funding delays, NASA finally launched Kepler
on March 6, 2009, 17 years after Borucki's first formal proposal and 400 years after Johannes Kepler published his first two laws of
planetary motion in his book Astronomia Nova.
By showing the value of recording those
motions, ROMY could pave the way for miniature sensors that could help oil and gas prospectors and even
planetary scientists who want to listen for tremors
on the moon and Mars.
Copernicus even drew
on the meticulous records of
planetary motion from the observatory at Maragheh in northwestern Iran for his proposal that Earth revolves around the sun.
(The laws of
planetary motion derived by Johannes Kepler, the 17th - century German astronomer and namesake of the Kepler mission, show that the duration of an orbit depends
on its size.)
Your arguments are at the level of those used to shoot down the heliocentric theory of
planetary motions, tectonic plates, quasicrystals, and so
on.
In the paper, according to the abstract, Scafetta compares the performance of a recently proposed empirical climate model based
on astronomical harmonics against all CMIP3 available general circulation climate models (GCM) used by the IPCC (2007) and finds that the climate appears to be resonating with, or is synchronized to, a set of natural harmonics that have been associated to the solar system
planetary motion.
The back - radiation explanation of the greenhouse effect that people used to prefer until recently is less satisfactory because it has the kinds of problems I pointed out 16 months ago in an article
on this blog, which was received at the time with only slightly more enthusiasm than Galileo's heliocentric account of
planetary motions: at least no one suggested I be placed under house arrest for it!
At the same time, the true forces
on the Sun are revealed, which leads to a natural Newtonian explanation for all the «coincidences» between the
planetary orbital elements and the Sun's
motion, activity, surface flows and rotation rates.
The complexity of
planetary science is mind boggling complex in the interaction to understand how
motion and mass and gases interact just
on the
planetary level.
Re 51 Tom P — watched the video; and I agree that the sun does wobble around the center of mass of the solar system; the center of mass itself is not tending to wobble around the sun because conservation of momentum applies to the solar system as a whole (except of course for the forces applied to it by nearby stars, the rest of the galaxy, etc, but those are not varying so fast and so the center of mass should generally be moving along rather smoothly
on the same timescale as
planetary motions).
Changes in
planetary motions and configurations alter the climate
on Earth, as does solar activity.
