on pranayama / breath continue in today's Day 21 yoga practice.
We embark
on Pranayama week starting Monday.
I teach 1 - on - 1 classes that focus
on pranayama, meditation and various aspects of yoga philosophy.
In Kundalini Yoga more stress is laid
on the Pranayama (breathing techniques) together with physical movement.
Instead of struggling with the mind directly, hatha yogis focus
on pranayama (breath) and bandha (locks) to stop their breath and the movement of vital life force, which, in turn, stops their awareness from moving.
Ask around about yoga books, and chances are you'll hear at least three of B. K.S. Iyengar's classic works mentioned again and again: Light on Yoga (the asana Bible), Light
on Pranayama, and Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Second module will focus
on Pranayama and Energetic Body, which, of course is an essential part of haha yoga practice and should be learned and practiced by each serious practitioner of yoga.
Our special focus for this workshop will be
on pranayama, the practice that uses the breath as a vehicle to carry us «toward our center» in a subtle and powerful way.

pranayama, and Savasana, and two classes each focused
on six areas: relaxation, developing strength and flexibility, asymmetric poses, strengthening hips, lateral bending, and integration and assimilation.

Yoga teachings in India still place supreme emphasis
on the union of the mind - body complex,
pranayama, meditative practices along with yoga asanas.
Thus, the effects of
pranayama are seen
on both the body and the mind.
Level One includes instruction
on prenatal asana,
pranayama, meditation, Ayurveda, mindfulness techniques for labor, anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, common discomforts in pregnancy, and how to support mothers through every stage of pregnancy and postpartum.

on the propagation of the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, BNS Iyengar, also a direct disciple of Krishnamacharya, continued the Ashtanga tradition through the teachings of
pranayama, mudra and meditation.
