My only concern is that

road, where you can't chuck the car into corners
on the brakes or exit with the
tyres fully lit - up, that slightly conservative set - up in Corsa mode will make it feel less agile than some of the competition at sane speeds.

While the Bowler feels soft
on road, it actually feels quite firm off
road on its Bilsteins, but without changing the 22 - inch wheels or the very un-knobbly
tyres, the Bowler tackles the off -
road course (conveniently over the hill from the tarmac track) with ease and pace.
Sadly the firmer damper settings don't suddenly make the C43 any more interactive, but they do help create a better connection with what's going
on between the
tyres and the
road.
Applying the same thinking to the
road, the change in surface conditions has a massive bearing
on the performance of a vehicle and the only connection we have is the contact patches of
tyres.
Driving up a 1 - in -5-in-places, hairpin strewn, icy
road does not feature highly
on my list of sensible things to do in a # 350,000 roadster with 295 - width rear
tyres, a two - metre - wide body and sensitive controls, so we leave it at the bottom (next to a sign advising learners, HGVs and caravans to go the long way round) and scout ahead in our Lexus IS - F long - termer.
