This brief explores emerging practices for improving communication between teachers and State education agencies
on teacher evaluation systems.
This first - in - a-series issue brief poses questions and provides research - based answers
on teacher evaluation systems — a top priority of legislators during the fall 2011 legislative session.
While much of the current focus
on teacher evaluation systems is centered on accountability, many have argued that it is equally, if not more, important to design and use evaluation systems to inform professional development efforts and improve student learning.
We are a diverse team of 13 teachers who met for six weeks to review research
on teacher evaluation systems across the nation, as well as local evaluation systems being proposed or piloted by UTLA, LAUSD and The College - Ready Promise consortium of charter schools.

on teacher evaluations, but a narrow margin say the governor is overall making the problems in the education
system worse.
The Board of Regents» new leaders launched an inquiry Monday into the validity of the state test
system and its links to
teacher evaluations, citing the need to rebuild public trust following a second annual round of massive exam boycotts
on Long Island and across the state.
