Obama administration goals for the legislation include: (1) improving
nutrition standards for school meals; (2) increasing participation in school meal programs; (3) increasing parent and student education about healthy eating; (4) establishing
nutrition standards for the so called «a la carte»
foods (see my School Lunch FAQs for more information
on these); (5) promoting increased consumption of
whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and low - and fat - free dairy products; (6) strengthening school wellness policies and promoting physical activity in schools; (7) training people who provide school meals and providing them with better equipment; and (8) enhancing

There a lot of people they're focused
on calories and if you're eating a real
whole foods those calories will have
nutrition, but today, it's possible with the
whole pop tart analogy or the junk
food analogy, you can get a
whole bunch of calories and not a lot of
nutrition on the flipside.
The epidemic of cardiovascular disease is nonexistent in cultures, which thrive predominantly
on whole foods, plantbased
nutrition.
But as I delved deeper into my
nutrition studies, I quickly learned that fats were not created equal and that a sound diet is based
on a foundation of eating adequate fats from
whole foods.
The lies about the «failure» of the low - fat issue you mention is that instead of actually cutting fat by turning to
WHOLE foods to get their
nutrition needs, people actually ate the same fatty animals, processed
food and oil, but just went crazy
on the sweets with the «new promise» of the
food industry's low fat processed crapola made from gobs of white flour, sugar, and chemicals, adding to the already unhealthy mix, so of course they got fatter and sicker!

Beyond some basic fundamentals that more or less everyone can agree
on (eat
whole foods, vegetables are good) blindly following some
nutrition plan — especially of the more «extreme» variety — without listening to your own body and paying attention to how you feel will likely lead to poor health.

Important note about my view
on carbohydrates: In general, I find that dense sources of

nutrition when eaten in the correct portions!
