In any event, I was suprised when the church I was attending here in Ontario held a discussion
on women in ministry as I sort grew up without the sort of restraints that I later learned were in place in some denominations within Canada and in far more within the US.

in small group Bible studies, what titles to bestow upon worship leaders and children's
ministry coordinators so that they don't appear too authoritative, and
on and
on and
on.
Having gleaned same insights during my own years of
ministry and
in counseling both male and female clergy, I can offer some tentative deductions from the new and scant data
on women in the clergy and from my own files
on the personal and professional concerns of several hundred clergy of both sexes.
When a group convenes
on the first evening, it is made up of twenty men and a few
women who are usually strangers to each other; who come from different parts of the country or even of the world; who represent the doctrine and tradition of from eight to twelve different churches, Protestant and Catholic; and who are engaged
in different kinds of
ministries — education, local church, seminary leaders, denominational executives, and others.
So,
on this view, if someone disagrees with them about the millennium, about infant baptism, about the role of
women in ministry, they are quickly labeled a heretic.
