I would have preferred a microSD card slot to augment the measly 8 GB of
onboard storage that comes with the Fire HD 6 Kids Edition (less than 5 GB of that is
usable).
This partially explains why the Fire HD 6 is offered with only 8 GB of
onboard storage — with just 4.4 GB of that actually
usable.
Considering the tablet has just 8 GB of
onboard storage — 5.45 GB of which is
usable — it's especially useful that the Excite 7 has a microSD card slot.
Unlike the Nexus 7 (2014 Edition), you'll find a micro SD card slot so when you use up the 16 GB
onboard storage (which is actually closer to 9 GB of
usable space) this can be bumped up to 48 GB.
While the phone ships with 32 GB of
onboard storage and no microSD card support, it actually has 132 GB of
usable storage in all.
