quadriceps muscle weight of IL - 15Rα — KO mice was significantly greater than in B6129 control mice.
The gastrocnemius, TA, and quadriceps muscles were dissected and weighed to compare
absolute muscle weight and muscle / lean muscle mass ratios.
These data demonstrate a preferential effect of loss of IL - 15Rα on normalized
skeletal muscle weight, which may reflect alterations in overall body metabolism, as previously suggested (14).
The most dramatic effects were observed in F66 / Mstn − / − mice obtained from crosses with Mstn − / − females, in
which muscle weights were approximately quadrupled compared to wild type mice.
