A large well - controlled study in the UK found that parents» reports of their child being
bullied at school predicted increased risk of
ongoing mental health
problems for children several years later (Arseneault et al, 2008).
These childhood adversities included being
bullied, having conflicts with relatives, or relatives having
ongoing conflicts among each other, and other persisting
problems at home or school such as living in an unsafe neighbourhood.
