The premise behind the GDRs project is that the
climate crisis can only be understood against the backdrop of an
ongoing and debilitating development
crisis, and that it is both unacceptable and unrealistic to expect those who are still struggling against poverty to focus their resources on averting
climate change.
When we brainstormed for the presentation the day before, someone brought up to our attention that we should try to make this presentation as inclusive as possible recognizing that even though we all care about
climate change to a certain extent we are not all on the same page when it comes to the UNFCCC and the
ongoing multilateral process to tackle the

crisis, provided by increasingly detailed information about how Earth responded to perturbing forces during its history (very sensitively, with some lag caused by the inertia of massive oceans) and by observations of changes that are beginning to occur around the globe in response to
