In fact, I just used minced onion instead of a regular onion because my kids will pick
the onion out of the sauce.

We settled on meatloaf, thinking that you could make it look sort

I made Whole Foods 365 whole wheat linguine (instead
of using Asian noodles) and made Barbara's Five Heap
sauce - with a bit
of a twist -
out of: 1T crushed sesame seeds, 1 T sesame oil, 2T peanut oil heated with chopped green
onions, crushed red peppers and ginger, 2T water, 2T soy
sauce, 2T rice vinegar, 1/4 t chili oil.
What's in it: 1 medium - sized spaghetti squash (about 3 - 4 pounds) 5 tablespoons vegetable oil, I used half peanut half canola Kosher salt and Freshly ground black pepper 2 eggs (optional, I omitted this to keep mine vegan) 1 (15 - ounce) package firm or extra firm tofu, water pressed
out and diced * 1 red
onion, thinly sliced 6 cloves garlic, finely minced 2 cups carrots, cut into matchsticks 2 cups bean sprouts 6 scallions, sliced Other optional veggies: I added a cup
of sliced white mushrooms, but broccoli, peapods, or any others you like would work as well 4 tablespoons Pad Thai
sauce, more to taste ** 1/3 cup peanuts, chopped 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped 1 lime, cut into wedges * you could alternatively use chicken or shrimp if you're not a tofu fan ** I used a jarred pad thai

Brush cut -
out shapes — naan works well — with a little olive oil and then spread with fig or rhubarb jam and dollops
of goat or cream cheese; combinations
of grated cheeses; tomato
sauce underneath and it's almost a pizza; a thin slice
of apple or pear topped with grated cheddar cheese; and by all means include the caramelized
onions if that's kid - friendly enough.
I liked the taste right
out of the pot, but I loved it with hot

When I removed the chicken after sautéing I added half
of a yellow
onion before adding the
sauce to the skillet, didn't bother wiping
out the skillet (missed that part in the directions).

For green bean casserole, swap
out fried
onions with toasted almonds for a less - oily alternative, and instead
of having cranberry
sauce, make a cranberry salad instead.

onions have softened a bit, after about 1 minute, add the chicken to the pan along with the oyster
sauce mixture (be sure to use a small rubber spatula to get every bit

sauce out of the bowl) and stir everything around constantly.
