AME is the first
book marketing and publicity firm to use Internet promotion to its full impact through The Virtual Author Tour ™, which strategically harnesses social networking sites, Twitter,
blogs,
book videos, and relevant sites in order to push an author's message into the
online community at sites related to the
book's topic and thereby position the author in his or her
market.
Examples of things we are seeking: Author websites with
book marketing tools,
book promotion for authors,
book reviewers, articles pertaining to writing, publishing or
book marketing or services like places to list
books,
book blogs or other platforms like
online tv, radio or author communities.
The former is likely to have a more mass -
market, advertising - driven approach; the latter should probably use more high - touch and targeted approaches (whether to independent booksellers,
book clubs, librarians, specific
blogs and
online communities, etc).

The price depends on all the services included in the campaign: elements of the media campaign (print /
online / broadcast), social media
marketing (number of platforms, growth techniques, advertising, monitoring and analytics), innovative
book events,
blog tours, promotional video services, author websites, media kits.
Check out this
blog post from author Susan Bischoff who has had considerable success with all of her
online book marketing efforts.
In this Internet age,
blogs can have hundreds to thousand of followers worldwide, making them a valuable
marketing platform that can help authors like you generate hype about your
book and build an
online following.
A third
online book marketing idea for authors is to guest -
blog on
blogs that already have good traffic.
If you are looking for some places to start
marketing your
book once you realize your target
market you can begin in some of the following places: look for groups
online, there are societies,
online reader forums,
book clubs, chat groups, social media pages, websites,
blogs, professional or social organizations, religious groups, newsletters, hobby groups.
Topics include choosing the right tools for
book creation and distribution, running your publishing business, author brand and platform, social media
marketing and traditional promotion, hybrid publishing with trusted partners, attracting an agent and a traditional publishing deal, raising money for your
book, sales and distribution, metadata, SEO, and
book discovery in Amazon and all the
online retailers, selling in brick - and - mortar bookstores and libraries, formatting and conversion, EPUB format and MOBI for Kindle and creating a full - color, fixed - layout
book for the new tablet readers, printing, mailing lists, websites, and
blogs.
Marketing tactics such as blogging, social networking, guest posting on other
blogs, virtual
book tours,
online book reviews, videos, and joint ventures can all be used in promoting Kindle ebooks.
But the bad news is that in a world that is completely oversaturated with traditional media, information, news, hype,
marketing,
books, other platforms, social media,
blogs, magazines,
online magazines, advertising everywhere, television, and so on, it's incredibly difficult to stand out.

Apart from my
online presence on Facebook, Twitter, and my
blog, I've used a lot of different
marketing techniques: Google AdWords, ads on various websites, ads on Goodreads, website sponsorships, ebook
blog sposorships, strategic ebook pricing, swapping excerpts with other authors, and making my
books free for a day on Amazon.
Marketing resources can be in the form of setup resources (ex: getting a great book cover designed, spending money and time on setting up an outstanding online presence etc.) or recurring resources (tweeting daily, doing weekly blog posts, maintaining a monthly BookBuzzr subscription etc.) Think of your marketing like a rocket being launched in

marketing like a rocket being launched into space.
On top of our own individual
marketing efforts —
blogs, websites, social media pages, etc. — common to all of the Bluestocking Belles, managed by various individuals and committees, we have a website; an excerpt
book; a twice - weekly Regency «gossip rag,» the Teatime Tattler; Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages; a monthly
book discussion group; a quarterly newsletter; constant
online events, an impromptu storytelling group on Facebook, the Bluestocking Bookshop; and a very active street team with its own, secret web page.
There are other things you can do: write guest posts or articles for website and
blogs, be a guest on podcasts or vlogs, do your own audio or video content, teach
online classes, organize in - person events or signings, participate on private message boards, be a guest at
book clubs, and reach out personally to people in your network through a personal email (which is always underestimated and undervalued as a
marketing and promotion tool).

How authors can
blog successfully for long - term platform and
book marketing efforts, with tips for
online writing, strong headlines, and good SEO.
As an author, having a
blog is essential to your
online book marketing success.
As for the
online marketing side, that involves promoting both our ebooks and print
books online: organizing
blog tours, placing banner ads and other advertising, creating catalogues with CataList, pitching our
books for review — including uploading e-galleys to NetGalley — maintaining and growing a presence on relevant social media sites, blogging, supporting our authors»
online initiatives, and helping to publicize their offline events and activities.
I've rounded up another great selection of
blog posts on self - publishing,
book reviews, teaching
online classes,
marketing, and some interesting tools to share with you today.
