After news of Shojo Beat's end saddened manga readers around the web, Viz Media was quick to announce the BETA version of their
new online manga magazine, IKKI.

Crunchyroll's foray into the world of legal,
online manga publishing is one I highly welcome, especially since they are doing «simulpub» work, meaning that for the manga they've licensed which is currently being published in weekly / monthly / whatever magazines in Japan, we are getting them on the same day in West and beyond to some 170 countries.

Then in the summer, just before San Diego Comic Con, Viz announced two more
online manga sites.
Never mind developing a common digital playing field with their Japanese rivals, Japanese publishers can't even play ball with their American licensing partners: Square Enix's
online manga store sells VIZ and Yen Press versions of Square Enix titles like Fullmetal Alchemist and Black Butler, using VIZ and Yen's translations, for half the price of the still - in - print print editions.
I would of also directed her to her local library - libraries often seperate graphic novels into «teen / young adult» and «adult» [for titles w / more mature themes or content] sections which might be handy for her, if she wants an alternative to
online manga reading, an a better idea what her kid's reading.

It'd be smartest for Viz to release their manga for all digital formats, sure, but releasing manga for one format is at least a major step over the olden days when manga publishers were completely freaked out about
any online manga.
Shonen Jump may not have had a print issue for July, but
the online manga had a monthly update just the same.
Children of the Sea, the first title from
the online manga magazine Ikki, is the perfect debut title.

So, when I was given the opportunity to read some of the Harlequin manga released by DMP on
their online manga site eManga, I decided to check some of the titles out.
And, let's face it, a Google search of «
online manga» will find a lot of titles available to read for free anyway.
