First, unless you are an experienced
baby wearer and experienced wrapper, back carries are typically
only recommended once your child is 6 months or older and is able to sit independently.
With these kinds of carriers, different users can possibly use one carrier by
only adjusting it based on the
baby and the
wearer's size.
Some
baby carriers are built
only for
wearer of a certain size, others for
babies of a certain size, some allow adjustments to be done through buckles, some uses double rings.
The
only downsides to facing out that I have found are a) a
baby that falls asleep facing out has no head support, b) facing out position is hardest on the
wearer's back and c) facing out is not optimal ergonomically for the
baby's spine, but is not harmful or damaging for short periods.
The carrier is not
only safe and comfortable for the
baby, but is comfortable and easy to use for the
wearer as well.
