You should keep in mind that this is not the best time to earn the
Companion pass, since you
only get it for 2017 and a few months this year.
There's no real reason to delay your credit card application as the

only be valid through 31 December 2018 regardless of your application date... and the soon er you
get it the sooner you can use it to save.

get 2 of these cards when the 50K sign up bonuses are being offered, after meeting the minimum spend on each you are
only another $ 6K of spend away from qualifying for the
Companion pass.
Our Southwest points and
companion pass got us there for near nothing and we
only spent 3 - 4k SPG points per night.
And just as a side note, if you have a significant other and are both into travel hacking,
only one of you needs to go through this process of
getting the
Companion Pass.
Getting that
pass will allow you and a
companion to fly around on Southwest for the next two calendar years while
only paying for one ticket.
With this new language you can
only qualify for one of these card bonuses every 24 months, making it impossible to
get the
Companion Pass, at least through the signup bonuses alone.
What makes these offers better than usual is the timing for
getting the Southwest
Companion Pass, which
only requires 110,000 points and it's good for the year you earn it and the following year.

get the
companion pass, but the Plus card is
only offering 25,000 points right now.
I was banking on doing the same thing trying to
get a
companion pass I have already applied for one of the cards that was offering 40,000 points and now that same card is supposedly offering 60,000 points so I'm worried that I'm not going to
get the 60,000 points and furthermore if I apply for another card that would mean I
only get the one bonus?
