yo the thing is not about believing or not, is the fact that if we don't believe then we are worthless living garbage who occupy a space in the universe only to create crap and pollution, in that kind of case we would better be recycled into some industrial material for a better use than eating and living like cattle, but if there is a god we acquire a divine status and a purpose to continue to exist beyond afterlife or at least the idea of it, which would give life a sense right?

have noticed my fears have changed if I had to be truthfully with myself I fear God which I know I'm not supposed to just I can't explain it I guess if you ever need a test subject I'm up for the then there is no need of hell and heavens, no need of good and evil... every one will be a good one... but because of free will we have human doing wrong things to others in terms of preaching them to take them away from worshipping one God and so on... and also no will be accountable for others... its like you are on your own on that day and no counselor / helper... the only helper will be your good deeds that you have done in this earthly life...

Very shortly into the sermon I realized 3 things: 1) although my practice would tolerate any of the people in the congregation (welcome them even), if they knew anything about me, I'd be tarred and feathered — and certainly NOT welcome; 2) redemption & heaven were the only reason for good deeds, not simply because strive (in this lifetime) for compassion and truth; and 3) the guy really believed there was a place in the sky made of gold, and that living there was desirable.

Receive instruction; choose the better things of life; final satisfaction can not be found in material things, but only in the uncharted region vaguely known as the spiritual realities of life.

In spite of much that still needs to be done, we had better rejoice and be thankful, not only for more comfortable living with the vast range of things technology has produced, but for more recognition of race and sex equality and advances toward implementation of these principles; better education; better health; minimum wage, unemployment and social security provisions; and a large network of social agencies that we sometimes fume at as being bureaucratic and expensive but which few of us would want to see abolished.

If hope is to be sustained, or revived, the world must reveal itself to be not only a place which was initially made to be a good thing; it must be a place in which there is revival of life, or resurrection, making it clear that death does not have the last say.

Gil you have asked some very good questions why does bad things happen in the world i personally do nt know God did nt explain to Job either why he had to suffer.What i do know is that God desires that none of us should perish but that all would have eternal life in him through Jesus Christ.This world will one day pass away and the real world will be reborn so our focus as christians is on whats to come and being a witness in the here and now.Both good and bad happens to either the righteous or the sinner so what are we to make of that.What we do know is that God will set all things right at the appointed time the wicked will be judged and the righteous will be rewarded for there faith isnt that enough reason for us to believe.Free will is only a reality if we can choose between good and bad but our hearts are deceitfully wicked we naturally are inclined toward sin that is another reason whyt we need to be saved from ourselves so what are we to do.For me Christ died and rose again that is a fact witnessed by over 500 people that were alive at the time and was recorded by historians how many other religious leaders do you know that did that or did the miracles that Jesus did.As far as the bible is concerned much of the archelogical evidence has proven to be correct and many of prophetic words spoken many hundreds of years ago have come to pass including both the birth and the death of Jesus.Interested in what philosophy you are believing in if other than a faith in Jesus Christ so how does that philosophy give you the assurance that you are saved.Its really simple with christianity we just have to believe in Jesus Christ.brentnz
