atmosphere (f.ex nitrogen
only).

only way I can think of to properly test and support any hypothesis either way is via modelling, basically solving the hydrodynamic equations for toy
planets with and without upper
atmosphere cooling.
Only the «extra» incoming flux to the surface of the
planet with the radiatively active
atmosphere.
They speak not
only for themselves, but for future generations who deserve a livable
planet with a healthy
atmosphere.
If all of the water vapor in our
planet's
atmosphere fell as water at once and spread out evenly, it would
only cover the globe
with about an inch of water.
