Too often I discover my friends following a «diet» that tells them to eat
only steamed broccoli and spinach for the next 8 weeks.

That's why I
steam instead of blanching: Boiled
broccoli not
only loses some of its nutrients to the boiling water, but it purees up as more of a slurry and less of a mash.
The
only proviso is that root vegetables should be pre-cooked (I
steam them beforehand) and other harder vegetables such as
broccoli should be lightly
steamed or blanched first.
I use my large saute pan to cook the sausage, put it in the baking dish, then saute /
steam the
broccoli in the same pan and store it with the sausage — later on I will
only need to boil the pasta and make the bechamel.
There are
only so many times you can make a pot of brown rice and
steamed broccoli, or quinoa and a bowl of salad before your family...

broccoli cooked to death appear on Styrofoam serving trays on a regular basis,
only to be ignored by the children for whom they are intended and dropped into trash receptacles at the end of the meal.

only eat leafy greens, corn & peanuts occasionally (to relieve blockage) and tend to do well with
steamed veg's (
broccoli & cauliflower) but I'm not sure about very many other «safe» low carb foods in order to prevent a bad flare!
