NORTH ADAMS, MASSACHUSETTS — This year's Teen Invitational, the fifth annual exhibition featuring art by local high school
students on view in MASS MoCA's main
galleries,
opens with a reception and awards ceremony on Friday, April 10, at 7 pm.
These semi-annual exhibitions were held in the Ashmolean's central
gallery on the lower ground floor, and were
open to
students and the general public free - of - charge.
This opportunity is
open to emerging artists who live within a 50 - mile radius of the Bronx, and have a record of solid achievement and potential, and who are not represented by a commercial
gallery, not a
student, and have not previously shown at Wave Hill.
In 1969, at the age of 23, Max Protetch
opened his first
gallery in Washington, D.C., while a graduate
student in political science at Georgetown University.
The competition will be
open to graduate
students of any age enrolled in visual arts programs throughout the state of Texas, with the stipulation that they not be formally represented by a commercial
gallery or dealer.
Once the concept for an exhibition is approved, each
student curator or team works with the
gallery staff to select the work, design the exhibition, prepare supporting written material, hang the show, publicize it and host the
opening reception.
