So, at both the federal and state levels, new laws have opened a window for change, and provide an opportunity for parents, educators, business leaders and grassroots organizations to come together and advocate for the educational needs of their students and schools.

Instead, if we consider the background of partnerships in law, we can understand Student / Adult Partnerships as fully active, mutually invested opportunities for each party to recognize the full humanity of the other.

ESSA was signed into law in late 2015, reauthorizing the 50 - year - old federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that was meant to provide equal opportunity for all students.
