For those willing to spend the extra dollar, the Roku Ultra offers support for more audio formats, support for Dolby Digital + via HDMI or the
additional optical output and a couple of extra remote features over the Premiere +.
Could you please expand on how
well optical output works with your TCL pick and with the LG C7?
All audio is output strictly in the digital realm either through HDMI 1.4 a or as S /
PDIF optical output.
To work around this, users will either have to purchase a special dongle that provides analog and digital
optical output alongside the HDMI output or use a set of provided RCA piggyback cables to tap the analog audio output from a TV (which can stand to considerably degrade the sound quality in many cases).
HDMI or
Optical outputs make it easy to connect the speaker to your television and start enjoying better audio immediately.
For most uses, the Toslink's four - foot length will be more than enough because as I mentioned above you'll typically feed the soundbar from your TV's
Toslink optical output.
To tie in with your setup, the Chromecast Audio has a 3.5 mm audio out, as well as RCA and
optical outputs as well.
The Hisense supports Dolby Digital surround sound, with a digital -
optical output for 5.1 speaker systems.

the optical output on Ultra.
A thumbstick - sized USB dongle hooks up to a free port on your console, with a its own jack cabling the dongle up to your console's
optical output.
