This 20 - page document describes and compares the various publishing
options available to writers today; describes the basics of the self - publishing option; offers some basic marketing advice; and provides links to resources.
I'll outline the main publishing
options available to writers, compare their relative advantages and disadvantages, explain why I chose self - publishing, and explain how that works.
Not surprisingly many of the attendees were tremendously interested to learn what it takes to become an author, but also confused by
the options available to writers today.
There are competing systems (such as KU's offer of enhanced visibility at the cost of exclusivity) and these demand some serious deliberation, but apart from the predatory actors that have always existed in this space, most of

to decide whether or not she is a Catholic... She however, took an
available medication for a health problem... most Catholic facilities recognize such health problems and allow for that treatment... I am completly puzzled, though, that she would not want other Catholics

to use contraceptive services and medication,

to leave a relgious group with no

to contradict its own tenets is an attempt by those who don't believe in those tenents
to mock them, certainly, but more
to erode them... this seems the aim of many and when those folks operate from inside the government... that intrusion is an overreach of the govenrment...
So
writers need
to be aware that there may be a wider menu of publishing
options available than they might have imagined.
So although I am an editor and I recommend that
writers seek us out before hitting Publish, I also recognize that funds are limited and I want
to point out that as this industry evolves, more and more
options are becoming
available.
That way you'll have all
options available to you as a
writer.»

to how they want
to be published... all of those
options should be
available.
It's a great time
to be a
writer because of the
options available thanks
to technology.
While it's true that thousands of prospective
writers who currently independently publish via outlets like Kindle Direct Publishing, CreateSpace and Smashwords (
to name three
options currently
available) will never be able
to produce a book that people other than their nearest and dearest will actually want
to read, some of us are highly successful.

to give you all a «publishing crash course» and go over the three main publishing
options available to modern
writers: traditional, vanity, and independent.
Thanks
to the rise of ebooks and the democratized access
to the publishing tools and retail distribution that were once only
available to traditional publishers,
writers everywhere have
options.
It makes sense
to me that for the first print run publishers stick largely with the current model but use POD on the backlist; that could have tremendous benefits
to author and pub house both if done correctly (not
to mention readers, who'd be able
to order older books by a favourite
writer and not face the flipping frustrating «out of print» or «no stock
available»
options.
And today there are myriad alternative publishing
options and platforms
available to writers who want complete control over their projects.
And speaking of awards ceremonies, another good
option for finding smaller publishers for direct licensing is
to review the results of various specialty book awards each year: IBPA has the Benjamin Franklin Digital Awards, Romance
Writers of America has RITA,
Writer's Digest has an annual self - published book award, and even more specific awards are
available in just about every possible topic.
However, the premiums
available to writers, because of the increased time in LEAPS ®
options, can provide a good rate of return in covered writing and other strategies.
