oral argument.
The amount of time in a typical day spent on either one of those tasks ebbs and flows
depending on whether the courts are in session, what issues the courts are granting for briefing, whether
oral argument is being granted, and so on.
I would typically spend 4 - 8 hours preparing for a half day hearing, and sometimes more
depending on the subject matter, and would spend a similar or greater amount of time preparing for an
oral argument of half an hour in an appellate court plus time in court waiting for my client's turn.
