Recent developments and guidance from the National
Organic Program (NOP) are helping to make
organic livestock certification smoother and more consistent, but it has been suggested that OMRI could list more
livestock products in order to simplify the process for certifiers and transitioning farmers.

This means that U.S.
organic livestock and
livestock products must meet the specific «density» rates identified in the Canadian standards; these rates identify acceptable maximum thresholds by species, as well as by indoor and outdoor locations.
This includes producers of
organic livestock, food and fiber crops, and «handlers» of
organic products.
The national
organic standard in Australia has an equivalency agreement for plant and plant processed
products; however because ACO has its own standard, which is stricter, ACO certified
products like wine and
livestock can also now be exported to Switzerland.

Livestock feed must meet the
organic product requirements in Section 8 of the 9.1.3 d), and the labelling and advertising requirements in OPR section 24.
For
products not covered by this arrangement, such as unprocessed foods, agricultural and forest
products, raw food and
livestock, QAI has partnered with Australian Certified
Organic to bundle Korean and U.S.
organic certification.
