This is an interview with the artist Joan Jonas, who talks about her performance piece Mirror Check, which she showed at 14 Rooms, the Live Art exhibition during Art Basel, organized by Fondation Beyeler, Art Basel, and Theater Basel.

Between 1963 and 1966, the Foundation sponsored a number of public events, including a series of performances at The Pocket Theater featuring then - emerging artists like Trisha Brown, Robert Morris, Yvonne Rainer, David Tudor, and La Monte Young, among many others; a concert of music by then - emerging composers Morton Feldman and Earle Brown; «Six Lectures» (1966), a series of lectures given by Norman O. Commissioned performances feature prominently in the exhibition, with the premiere of a three - part musical by Morgan Bassichis that returns to the influential 1977 publication The Faggots & Their Friends Between Revolutions, live music organized by Simone Leigh and staged inside her installation, monthly performances by Justin Vivian Bond, and a series of performance - lectures on masculinities by Gregg Bordowitz.

Additionally, the exhibition will incorporate a small selection of special ephemera, artist books, and archival materials, including documentation of notable dance and theatrical performances that were organized or commissioned by the museum during the 1960s.

With 19 artists and artist collaboratives, this exhibition — organized by Curator Dean Daderko with Exhibitions Manager and Assistant Curator Patricia Restrepo — includes sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, ceramics, textiles, performance, and installation by a multi-generational cohort of artists.

Natalie Kates, a New York City curator, has organized the exhibition «The Art of the Narrative,» featuring the work of eight visual artists, while Kris Gruen has set up performances by four musical groups.
