original edit of the film has been lost and bastardized through the years, and the film's final tone of forgiveness rings somewhat at odds with the rest of the film's general feel.

While the choreography is generally fairly minimal (at least for this sort
of mega-production), first time
film director Phyllida Lloyd (who helmed the
original stage version) has woven together a tightly
edited and exceedingly well shot
film that capitalizes on the music wonderfully while never worrying too much about such nettlesome items as character or motivation, providing enough other movement that one ultimately doesn't miss huge dance numbers a la Robbins or Fosse that much in the long run.
The

Though the
film uses the pop - styled first half
of Hancock's «Main Titles» for the
original English language mono mix, Antonioni, or perhaps an executive, chose to substitute Hancock's livelier «End Title» music in place
of the more subdued variation, which was slightly
edited and placed over the
film's End Credits.
Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Sound
Editing, and
Original Score are four categories, bar none, where the
film is in desperate need
of recognition.
Also, we had finished captioning the
film (in its
original theatrical release) and then about 2 weeks later the
film came back in for
editing — it seems they added about 5 minutes
of extra footage for the video release (rumor was they wanted to fill out a 120 minute tape, but who knows why).
In dramatizing Mathison's script, Spielberg and his usual army
of key collaborators — led by Janusz Kaminski (director
of photography), Rick Carter (production design), Michael Kahn (
film editing), and John Williams (
original musical score)-- have fashioned a movie for children that looks at home in modern cinemas while retaining an «old - fashioned» pacing and temperament.

I am obsessed with Bret Easton Ellis and I enjoyed The Informers, I just wish it had not been so overly
edited (apparently over 40 minutes
of footage was cut that was in BEE's

film be more dynamic as the book was.)

The
original MCA LP was a re-recording
of select cues (typical for the band, much like Firestarter or Flashpoint), and Varese Sarabande reissued the album on CD a few years later, but TD's
original score recording's never appeared anywhere save on fan
edit and bootleg albums (mostly as a pastiche
of unreleased cues among other
film & non-
film bits & pieces).

It says much for the competence or otherwise
of the BBC that between the
original filming commenced last summer, and the broadcast at the end
of January, no one picked up on the Nurse / Bindschadler assertions about CO2 emissions and
edited them out.
