The far - field microphones on the
original Echo and Dot are so sensitive that if I were to address the Dot in my basement theater, and still have the basement
door open, the Echo in the
kitchen would likely to respond as well.

The L - shaped house has two entrances: the first is the
original front
door, which was moved closer to the street to accommodate the stairs leading to the new second floor, while the second enters upon a hallway that connects the dining room with the

doors which unbelievably matched our

The couple also removed several layers of flooring in the

original fir flooring, restored
original crystal doorknobs, and stripped and repainted their
original doors.
I also didn't like the
original cabinet design for the
kitchen, so I had them remove the staggered
kitchen cabinets and replace the glass front cabinet
doors that were to flank our microwave with solid
doors.
The
original farmhouse larder
doors were revamped with glass panels to let light in to the open - plan
kitchen - living space.
Working within the
kitchen's
original layout, Lindsay updated the
kitchen cabinetry
doors and hardware and installed a two - toned marble backsplash to tie the new marble - tiled flooring to the existing granite countertop.
Much of the
kitchen was upcycled by keeping the
original units and island, then respraying the cupboard
doors and replacing the worktops with marble.
The new units in the
kitchen of our 1860s cottage, which has its
original floor in local Delabole slate, will have painted
doors and worktops in bleached oak.
