I've painted one of my
oak bathroom vanities, and I like that too, but I don't want to do it to my kitchen
cabinets because it would be impossible to return to the
original finish at some point in the future.
The color was the same as our
original cabinets (that yellow - y
oak) and the size would work out perfectly.
I love my kitchen with its white shaker
cabinets, but I also love my vintage wood, mostly
oak, furniture, some of it with its
original finish.
As one side opens up to the adjacent living space, antique - white painted
cabinets, dark green granite countertops, and
original oak floors help stainless steel appliances blend into the 1874 farmhouse.
I've kept lots of the old (plaster walls,
original large parquet
oak floors,
original yellow pine floors), but updated the tech (central a / c), appliances, and kitchen (making it bigger but adding quality
cabinets that wink at the era of the home).

oak cabinets that were in our kitchen.
