The building features some of the
original brick from 1798, when it was the Quaker Friends Meetinghouse, as well as
wainscoting from old Philadelphia school doors, and vintage bottles hanging from the second - floor bar.
First and foremost, for the character that so often comes with the historic package:
original hardwood floors, winding staircases,
wainscoting, wrap - around porches and built - in bookshelves...
Upstairs we continued the 5ft
wainscoting, refinished the floors, replaced the windows, replaced all interior doors (but reused the
original brass hinges and glass door handles), and painted.
The
original board - and - batten
wainscoting, built - in cupboards, and exposed beam ceilings were remarkably intact, though the fir floorboards were buried under layers of linoleum and indoor - outdoor carpet.

wainscoting throughout and
original wood floors from the 1930's.
we even recreated the
wainscoting to match the
original (5 ft of t & g with a picture ledge) and the built in dressers are the same as the
original as well, only they were glass front cabinets on either side of the window seat rather than drawers.
