other people's religious beliefs are really expressing their own inner conflict.

It's not about the nonexistent love of some «God» as
atheists understand the term, but about the very real love of people in a church
who help each
other get through life.

who say there are far more important
atheist battles to fight, such as getting the Pledge of Allegiance back to its pre-Cold War wording.

Atheists and certain
other non-believers are perhaps the ONLY people
who truly accept that they will indeed cease to exist at some point.
Atheist morality is without any objective basis and, if followed with integrity, doesn't allow them to act against
others who act contrary to their moral system (as they insist that each subjective moral judgment is equal in value, all being based purely on individual feelings).

As an
atheist who believes in «Choice» (I dislike the idea of abortion but see the need for people to be able to opt for it) and polygamy (marriage should be for any number of consenting adults regardless of gender) and believes that the idea of draconian anti-gun measures is anathema as it takes away an individual's right to live the way he wants to live, I think that if believing in a deity makes a person treat
other people nicer then we should leave that person and his beliefs alone.

I am not crediting God, but I'd rather have a doctor

other than a selfish belief that he is the most intelligent thing in the universe.
The religious leaders have done next to nothing in this regard, except at times to be teach their members to be intolerant of
others, especially those

It's a way to justify what you don't yet understand, rather than acknowledging that it's just understandable at the moment, and it's acceptance amongst those
who think like they do, it's the creation of a definable «evil» to fight against (satan,
atheists,
other religions, basically everyone except their small group of like minders... even
