Aside from a set of tightly timed block puzzles accessed by jumping in blue cannons, which always reward you with new weapons, puzzles tend to safeguard concept art, songs from the soundtrack, and
other collectible side content that may be fun to glance at, but never offers strong motivation.

Enemies also present a danger, with one
side of the world housing the spiky black blobs, and the
other side featuring a corresponding white blob that kills the enemy when touched, causing the black blob to become a shower of
collectible shards that are added up at the end of the level.
On the
other side of the
collectible spectrum we have Power Moons, the essential fuel for Mario's hat - shaped flying machine.
The world is populated in a similar manner to
other recent open worlds, though decidedly leaner and more focused in its content: a few
side quests, some
collectibles, and a couple of extra-tough endgame challenges.
While
other developers use endless
collectibles and highly scripted
side - quests to encourage player exploration, Nintendo simply provides a beautiful environment filled with secrets and lets you go out and find them.
