According to her, the «Community» statue was inspired from the understanding that success is a product of unity while the beauty and strength of Lagos is her hospitality and acceptability of people
of other cultural background with a binding cord of unity around us.
For example, it is common in Western industrialised societies like Australia for parents and carers to value children's independence, whereas parents and carers from
other cultural backgrounds sometimes give more emphasis to family responsibilities than to children's independence.
Some hospitals also provide culturally sensitive birth services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their families, as well as families
from other cultural backgrounds.
Just as alarming in terms of predicting loneliness and sadness were the low number of positive responses from students when asked their perceptions on whether people from
other cultural backgrounds were «good», «honest», «nice / kind», «smart / intelligent» (see below).
