More so than
any other foldable device related leak, the Galaxy X actually looks like a phone I might want.
It's definitely a far cry from
some other foldable devices from the past, like the clunky Sony Tablet P.

This yet to be released product called Jorno is a
foldable Bluetooth Keyboard that is set to work with both BlackBerry smartphones and a whole slew of
other devices including most likely support for the PlayBook.
Lenovo and Samsung have demonstrated concept
devices with
foldable screens, and
other companies have filed patents, but
devices have yet to materialize.
On the
other hand, LG is also a tough competitor for Samsung
foldable devices.
Two
other flagships, equally worthy of attention, are expected launch later in the year — Samsung's
foldable device, the Samsung Galaxy X, and Google's Pixel successor, the Pixel 2.
A new report says
other manufacturers are also developing
devices with the same type of
foldable OLED panel.
The Galaxy X release date is expected to influence
other smartphone makers into making
devices with the same type of
foldable screen.
Microsoft is exploring different ideas, the company has patented 60 - degree rotation of the dual displays for the
foldable Surface phone, while the
other patent points to a
device with a hinge.
With all the
other OEMs jumping into the Always - Connected PC market, it is also the Microsoft's
foldable Andromeda
device running Windows 10 on ARM joining the show.
These last 2016 patent filings also show that Samsung is viewing the
foldable smartphone as a scrolling
device that will allow users to «open the scroll» when viewing weather, date, time, and
other pertinent information.
Foldable displays are likely far from becoming a common
device trait anytime soon, but truly flexible displays are already here in the sense that companies are already working on them and trying to integrate them with
devices, and with Samsung's Galaxy X on the way you can bet
other major brands are working on something too.
