There are countless
other support staff, volunteers and local supporters that help us to continue our mission and provide for the
homeless animals in Brevard.
Most
animals find themselves
in shelters for
other reasons such as; an owner passes away or becomes too ill to care for a pet, becomes
homeless, realized they are too busy, or the
animal may have a medical issue that the shelter can rehabilitate and then adopt them out when healthy.
Because there are

in every community
in the nation, the ASPCA strongly advocates that persons wishing to acquire a dog consider adopting one from a shelter or
other source of
homeless animals.
But most of all, you need to love
animals, like working with
other people who want to help them, and feel great about using your skills to put technology
in the paws of
homeless pets.
Florida's
animal shelters are overflowing with hundreds of dogs and cats left
homeless by the hurricanes or abandoned by their owners, forcing workers to euthanize some and send
others out of state
in search of a home.

in the early 2000s, AWLQ leadership started to assess the issues it was facing
in the Gold Coast — namely, a deluge of
homeless pets — and began to examine how

The event raises funds to support
homeless, abused and injured
animals in Canadian humane societies and SPCAs by encouraging participants to bake cupcakes for
others in exchange for a donation.
Why do these volunteers commit themselves day after day, week after week, to a public open admissions shelter where the number of
homeless animals exceeds the number that can be adopted locally or transferred to no - kill shelter partners
in other parts of the country?
In honour of Tovi who, as a puppy, was hit by a car and needed extensive surgery to save his life, donations to the Tovi fund go to cover the costs of surgeries and special procedures so that
other homeless animals are afforded the same chance at life.
Being a Foster helps us to create space
in the shelter to accommodate
other homeless animals.
In the 1970s all the jurisdictions were full of
animals, so transports and out - of - area adoptions would just take homes from
other homeless animals.
We work closely with
other rescue organizations and resources to meet the needs of
homeless animals in our community.
Our Emergency Rescue Team is
in Florida now, equipped with our Rachael Ray Mobile Rescue Unit, to assist
in the transport of 67
homeless animals, who arrived from devastated areas of Puerto Rico, to the safety of our Port Washington, N.Y. Adoption Center and
other safe havens.
