It was a crowded field this weekend as the fall film season began in earnest: Three
other movies opened nationwide, with several more in limited release.
J.J. Abrams» Mystery Box remains firmly closed until the week of release (whereas
other movies opening before and after, like «Joy,» «The Revenant» and «The Hateful Eight,» have already been seen by at least one staffer, and will be featuring on some of these lists).
The future will pronounce on «Munich» in a way that it will not pronounce on «Rumor Has It» or any of
the other movies opening this holiday weekend.

other DCEU
movies on the strength of that alone.
From that stark introduction, Saving Private Ryan invites us into a mission to save one man at the cost of several,
opening our eyes to complex realities of World War II in a way few
other movies ever have or ever will.

opening around then is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 finale just a week before (which will of course be huge).
While the
opening segment
opens like a pastiche of
other fight
movies (although done very well), it grows into something new, inventive and utterly brilliant.
While the followup
movie doesn't have the same luxury of time with regard to promotional activities compared to its predecessor — given that it's sandwiched by two
other tentpole films: Marvel Studios» Avengers: Infinity War and Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story — Reynolds, and his team are doing a great job making sure that their latest project generates buzz that would entice people to see it
opening weekend.
