The
other big winner was Silver Linings Playbook, receiving
nominations in all four acting
categories (Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver), directing and adapted screenplay (David O. Russell), and best picture.
Then again, how can I be mad at Julia Louis - Dreyfus and Veep's umpteenth
nominations, when the show really is still good — it's not like we're talking about Two and A Half Men — and you've also been wise enough to nominate Issa Rae
in the same
category... and Gina Rodriguez and Rachel Bloom don't cancel each
other out, even though they're both
in CW Wacky comedies?
Wrestling drama «GLOW's
other two
nominations were acting nods for Alison Brie and Marc Maron, while «Big Little Lies» scored three
in just one
category.
The venerable studio probably had too many wannabe players on their dance card last year with «Interstellar,» «The Gambler» and «Top Five,» but found success when «Selma» landed a Best Picture

We may see «Star Wars» winning a Best Picture
nomination — but its strongest chances of a win are definitely
in the special effects and
other technical

other categories — Ben Kingsley may also score a
nomination for Best Supporting Actor — seems all but destined to compete
in the big race, too.
The gamble — which also re-teamed the Coens with No Country producer Scott Rudin — paid off handsomely: True Grit grossed more than twice as much as any of their
other films and received Academy Award
nominations in a remarkable 10
categories.

in La La Land, another critical and festival darling that scored 12 Critics» Choice
nominations, more than any
other film, including key
categories like best picture, best director, best actor, and best actress.
