certification process remains relatively time consuming and complex compared to the process for
other organic products.
Having recently achieved Chinese
organic certification through Australian Certified
Organic, Arcadian
Organic & Natural Meat Co. is also joining eight
other Aussie food companies this week at an Australian
Organic exhibition at SIAL China, May 6 — 9.
Thus, products meeting
organic certification standards in one country may be imported to the
other.
It is the most widely recognised and trusted
organic certification mark by consumers and gives businesses more market access around the world than any
other Australian
certification.
But the
certification body and lobby group said
organic milk did perform a lot better than
other organic products in the UK, with sales up 1 per cent compared to 2008.
Two theme examples provided by PIRSA in their «Guidelines and Assessment Criteria September 2016» document noted the example projects as «Achieving non-GM or
organic standard third - party
certification to meet the requirements of an identified new or potential customer (s)» and «achieving non-GM or

certification deals exclusively with shade growing methods (it also requires

Other coffee
certifications have various restrictions on pesticide use, but only
organic (and Smithsonian Bird - Friendly, for which
organic certification is a prerequisite) prohibits most of them.
But unless they are certified, there is no way of knowing if, when, or how they use chemicals, or if they are following the many
other essential environmentally - friendly practices that are mandated in
organic certification standards.

certification for sustainability; the fair trade label is focused on the trade relationships, and
organic requires soil conservation and prohibition of agrochemicals and genetically modified crops, among
other criteria (Méndez et al. 2010b).
There are many
organic labels on the market within South Africa, as apart from those of the three international
certification bodies, many farmers have their own brand names or they trade under the names of their farm or company such as: Wensleydale (fruit and vegetables), Sunmark (fruit and vegetables), Pecans (nuts), Down to Earth Herbs (herbs), Spier (fruit and vegetables), Nature's Best (grains, herbs and vegetables),
Organic World (grains, dried fruits and seeds) plus many
others.
Farmers will need to prove their land has been free of prohibited substances (synthetic pesticides and fertilizers) for a minimum of 12 months and must follow all
other organic production standards to achieve transitional
certification, including crop rotation, the fostering and conserving of biodiversity, and the avoidance of the use of genetic engineering.
Consequently, consumers may not understand that the
organic certification for meat and
other animal products actually already includes a lot of these
other production attributes.»

certification have remained intact, firmly grounded in soil fertility without the compromises that have affected the U.S.
organic standards.
