What I find fascinating is that there is a lot of talk about legal
education by the CBA, the Federation and its constituent law societies, and
others, but there is one
stakeholder missing from the
public discussion: the law schools themselves.
There is also a need for more clarification and creative thinking about the roles of different
stakeholders: is this a funding issue requiring greater
public sector intervention, an
education and training issue requiring greater collaboration between lawyers, law schools and
other disciplines, or solely a regulatory issue?
In 2008, the relevant
stakeholders of
public legal
education institutions agreed to standardize their curriculum and collectively produce legal textbooks to be taught in
other public law schools.
Over that time, MLAC has also formed close partnerships with the private bar, the judiciary, the legislature, the attorney general's office, regional civil legal aid programs and
other stakeholders to maximize available resources for low - income individuals and families facing potentially life - changing civil legal issues related to housing, employment,
education, domestic violence, and access to
public benefits.
Drawing on resources from both grants, the Quality Early Learning Initiative (QELI) Consortium was created, bringing together
